Start The Ball Rolling

Now you need to work out what your owed.

Take all your statements, and a highlighting pen and find a quiet room. At this point we are just concerned about charges, don’t start thinking of interest yet, that comes later, much later. Go though your statements and highlight all the charges, below are some of the more common ones.

Unpaid direct debit
Paid DD/SO while overdraw
Unauthorised overdraft fee
Paid CHEQUE while overdraft
Unpaid CHEQUE
Unpaid Direct debit/standing order
Paid VISA while overdraw
Unpaid VISA
Late payment fee
Referral fee

These are just some of the charges and is not meant to be an exhaustive list. In short any charge that would not have been put onto your account had you not gone overdrawn or over your agreed overdraft can be included.

Now you have done this you can enter it onto a spreadsheet, there is an excel example below, if not use the formula in the I don’t have excel link
